PROJECT

Mpaka girls

In 2014 the educational center has recorded the need to expand the building that houses the school and the technical school. New Flower in Africa has incurred the costs of construction of a second floor, creating a three floors building which could accommodate adequately the growing number of students.

Since 2016 NFA gives 5 scholarships for the worthier girls that don’t have enough money to attend high schools  or universities. Furthermore, NFA grants 10 places in the literacy center for boys and girls at every age that couldn’t ever attend schools.

REASONS TO TAKE ACTION

The greatest dream of these girls is learning to read and write and to learn a job in order to be able to work independently and get everything they need. All students of the Center are very poor, some have complex family situations and if there wasn’t this school they would have no chance to receive a proper education. At the end of both the literacy school and the technical school students receive an official certificate (the PSC – Primary School Certificate and the French CAP-Professional Capacities Certificate).

DIRECT AND INDIRECT BENEFICIARIES
The compound offers a boarding house for 25 girls from 7 to 22 years old and a three-year school with approximately 95 students aged between 12 and 25 years. Many of them are teenage girls and some are single mothers.
COUNTRY
The city of Pointe-Noire, where there are two projects of New Flower in Africa, is the second most populated city (969.000 (2015)) and is considered the economic capital of the country.
