The Auxilium Catholic School project began in 2011 in the Bole Bulbula neighborhood of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, with the aim of providing quality education to vulnerable children and adolescents. Over the years, thanks to the commitment of the Salesian Sisters, the school has expanded to include early childhood, primary, middle, and secondary education, reaching more than 2,160 direct beneficiaries among students and teachers. The facility includes equipped classrooms, science and computer laboratories, a library, a sports field, and cafeterias, offering a stimulating and safe learning environment. The project promotes social inclusion through education, providing concrete opportunities for young people in the neighborhood. In Ethiopia, where a large portion of the population is under 15 years old and many children lack access to primary school, educational interventions like this are fundamental for the country’s future. Today, the institute is a reference point for about 10,000 indirect beneficiaries, contributing to the development of the local community and continuing to invest in education as a driver for growth and change.
Educational infrastructure is central to our work in Africa: without safe classrooms, adequate spaces, and modern tools, learning remains a privilege for a few. That is why we build and renew schools, create laboratories, and educational spaces where children and young people can grow with dignity.
Direct: 2,160
Indirect: 10,000
The school is located in Bole Bulbula, a peripheral neighborhood to the south of Addis Ababa. The area has experienced rapid population growth due to internal migration, with many families living in precarious conditions. Despite strong community resilience and solidarity, youth unemployment is high and local educational services struggle to keep up with demand, leaving many children either in overcrowded schools or without access to education.
With the goal of supporting basic education and vocational training, the Foundation invests in infrastructure and initiatives addressing educational challenges such as the empowerment of girls and women.
Each project is developed in collaboration with local communities and aims to promote education, personal growth, and sustainable development.
