In 2015, the Salesian Sisters launched the "Computers for Zway High School" project, with the aim of strengthening IT training in one of Ethiopia's most disadvantaged regions. Thanks to the contribution received, it was possible to equip the technical college's IT laboratories with computers, thus improving access to digital skills for dozens of young people.
The project benefited 70–100 students per year, with an impact on over 600 people, including teachers, families, and the community. In Ethiopia, where over 70% of the population is under 30 and youth unemployment remains very high, acquiring IT skills is fundamental to increasing employment opportunities and reducing social inequalities.
The intervention contributed to making the Zway technical school a key educational reference point, promoting inclusion and local development through digital education.
Special supports are created to respond to urgent and specific needs that emerge in the communities we work with. These are targeted interventions—such as medical supplies, means of transport, school equipment, or support in emergency situations—that allow us to immediately address concrete difficulties. These special projects integrate our educational and social work, ensuring timely and high-impact responses. Every extraordinary help is a gesture that brings immediate relief and strengthens the hope of those living in conditions of vulnerability.

Zway is a city in the Oromia region with about 60,000 inhabitants, located on the shores of the lake of the same name. It is a rapidly growing agricultural and commercial center, with lively markets and an enterprising community. However, most of the population lives in conditions of economic precariousness, with very low incomes and a high rate of youth unemployment. According to local reports, less than 40% of young people complete secondary school. The potential linked to fishing and tourism remains largely untapped due to a lack of structural investments. The city therefore lives in continuous tension between dynamism and fragility.
With the goal of supporting basic education and vocational training, the Foundation invests in infrastructure and initiatives addressing educational challenges such as the empowerment of girls and women.
Each project is developed in collaboration with local communities and aims to promote education, personal growth, and sustainable development.
