In 2020, during the health emergency related to COVID-19, we supported the Salesian Sisters in the rural area of Gubrye, in Ethiopia, with the project "Sister Rosaria's children." In a context already marked by malnutrition, extreme poverty, and a lack of health services, we took action to respond to the most urgent needs of vulnerable families.
We distributed nutritious meals and sanitary kits to 1,000 families, indirectly reaching about 6,000 people in the local community. Our intervention represented immediate relief for those most exposed to the crisis, helping to protect the health, dignity, and survival of children and adults without any form of social protection.
Even in the midst of the emergency, we chose to stand by the most fragile, because we believe that no child should be left alone, even in the hardest times.
Special support is created to respond to urgent and specific needs that emerge in the communities we work with. These are targeted interventions—such as medical supplies, means of transport, school equipment, or support in emergency situations—that allow concrete difficulties to be addressed immediately. These special projects complement our educational and social work, ensuring timely and high-impact responses. Every extraordinary help is a gesture that brings immediate relief and strengthens the hope of those living in vulnerable conditions.

The rural area of Gubrye, located in the Gurage region, is characterized by agricultural villages and communities that live mainly on traditional crops such as enset (false banana), corn, and cereals. Families have a strong sense of cooperation and mutual support, but economic resources are scarce and poverty remains widespread. Schools in the area have serious infrastructural deficiencies and are often distant from the villages, making regular attendance difficult for children. The lack of qualified teachers and adequate teaching materials negatively affects the quality of education. Despite this, the community shows great resilience and entrepreneurial spirit, values that form the basis for building paths of development and inclusion.
With the goal of supporting basic education and vocational training, the Foundation invests in infrastructure and initiatives addressing educational challenges such as the empowerment of girls and women.
Each project is developed in collaboration with local communities and aims to promote education, personal growth, and sustainable development.
