In 2022, we launched the construction of an elementary school in Gassa, a mountain village located at 2,400 meters above sea level in the heart of the Dawro-Konta region, southwest Ethiopia. Gassa is a remote rural community, accessible only via dirt roads that become difficult to travel during the rainy season. Here, over 60% of children aged 6 to 14 do not attend school due to the lack of facilities and the long distances involved.
With this project, we aim to ensure access to primary education for around 600 children every six years, providing equipped classrooms, trained teachers, and appropriate learning materials. Construction is still underway and actively involves local workers, contributing to the economic development of the village. For the families of Gassa, this school represents a tangible turning point: an investment in the future of their children and the entire community.
The school will include bright classrooms, separate sanitation facilities for girls and boys, and dedicated spaces for recreational activities. A simple but durable infrastructure, designed to meet the real needs of the area.
In a region where only 45% of schools have access to safe drinking water and less than 30% are equipped with adequate sanitation, every brick we lay is a step forward towards inclusive education and quality services.
School infrastructure is at the heart of our work in Africa: without safe classrooms, adequate spaces and modern tools, learning remains a privilege for the few. This is why we build and renovate schools, create laboratories and educational environments that allow children and young people to grow in dignity. Every new classroom is not just a building — it is a seed of hope and future for entire communities.

Gassa is located in the Dawro-Konta region in southwest Ethiopia, an agricultural village where daily life revolves around farming and livestock. The community is closely connected to the land and preserves strong social and cultural traditions. However, geographic isolation and the lack of infrastructure severely limit access to healthcare and education. Schools are few and often difficult to reach, forcing many children to travel long distances. Despite these challenges, the people of Gassa show great resilience and a strong sense of solidarity that strengthens the social fabric of the village.
With the goal of supporting basic education and vocational training, the Foundation invests in infrastructure and initiatives addressing educational challenges such as the empowerment of girls and women.
Each project is developed in collaboration with local communities and aims to promote education, personal growth, and sustainable development.
