This project was created to respond to the profound educational needs of one of the most vulnerable regions in South Sudan, the State of Warrap, marked by poverty, instability, and ethnic conflicts.
In 2013, we expanded the primary school with four new classrooms, allowing students to complete the cycle up to the 8th grade and promoting peaceful coexistence between different groups. In 2020, a building for higher education was constructed with eight classrooms, two laboratories, a computer room, offices, and services, so hundreds of young people could continue their studies without having to migrate elsewhere.
Finally, in 2022, a computer laboratory was inaugurated with 52 digital devices, which involved 242 students and 31 teachers, bridging the digital divide and opening new training opportunities.
Today, the Tonj school represents not only an educational safeguard but also a center of stability, modernity, and hope for the region's youth.
We invest in school infrastructures to guarantee educational environments that are safe, inclusive, and functional for the development of young people's skills.

Tonj is located in Warrap State, one of the most fragile areas of South Sudan. Here, daily life is marked by widespread poverty, ethnic conflicts, food insecurity, and political instability. Most families live on subsistence farming and small businesses, but opportunities are few, and basic services, such as schools and health facilities, are almost non-existent. In this difficult context, access to education is extremely limited, especially for girls, who often do not attend school for cultural, economic, or security reasons. Schools are few, far away, and often unsafe. Added to all this are problems like early marriage, youth migration, and extreme climatic conditions, which make it even more difficult to ensure continuous education. And yet, despite everything, the Tonj community shows great resilience. Families are united, and there is a strong desire for peace and a future for their children. Bringing schools and educational projects here means offering young people a real chance to change their lives, break the cycle of poverty, and build a more cohesive and stable society.
With the goal of supporting basic education and vocational training, the Foundation invests in infrastructure and initiatives addressing educational challenges such as the empowerment of girls and women.
Each project is developed in collaboration with local communities and aims to promote education, personal growth, and sustainable development.
