In Hosanna, at the heart of Ethiopia, the Foundation has already taken an important first step: the construction of the primary school, now completed and fully operational. It is a vibrant place where hundreds of children learn, grow, and dream every day.
But our commitment does not stop here.
We now want to ensure continuity in this educational journey by building a secondary school within the same compound. Our goal is to give boys and girls the opportunity to continue their studies — without leaving their community or having to give up education due to a lack of proper facilities.
The new project includes the construction of two school buildings dedicated to grades 9 to 12. Work will begin with the first building, already in the start-up phase, followed by the second one. The construction will be carried out in multiple phases under the supervision of the Capuchin Friars of Hosanna, with the support of Fondazione Nuovo Fiore in Africa and international partners, including the American Capuchins, who share our vision of accessible, high-quality education.
The new building will be welcoming, functional, and designed to meet the needs of a modern secondary school. Spaces will be organised to foster learning and participation, providing environments suitable for study, experimentation, and personal growth. The aim is to create an inclusive place, where every student can feel valued and empowered to fully develop their potential.
This school is more than just a construction project — it is an investment in the future. A place where young people can build skills, develop talents, and imagine a different life. A concrete response for those who, until now, have not had access to continued education.
Supporting this project means giving continuity to a dream that is becoming reality. It is a gesture of trust in the future — a way to take an active part in a deep and lasting change.
School infrastructure lies at the heart of our educational interventions in Africa: without safe classrooms, adequate spaces, and modern tools, learning remains a privilege for a few. This is why we build and renovate schools, create laboratories, and design educational environments where children and young people can grow with dignity. Every new classroom is not just a building — it is a seed of hope and a future for entire communities.

Hosanna is the capital of the Hadiya zone in southern Ethiopia and serves as a reference point for the surrounding rural communities. With approximately 90,000 inhabitants, the city is vibrant and known for cultural and religious traditions that strengthen social bonds.
However, poverty affects a significant portion of the population: many families rely on subsistence agriculture, and household income is often not enough to ensure access to education and essential services.
Local schools are overcrowded, with more than 60 students per class, and there is a shortage of qualified teachers and adequate learning materials.
Despite these challenges, Hosanna retains a strong sense of community and remarkable social energy — a place full of potential, yet still marked by deep educational and economic inequalities.
With the goal of supporting basic education and vocational training, the Foundation invests in infrastructure and initiatives addressing educational challenges such as the empowerment of girls and women.
Each project is developed in collaboration with local communities and aims to promote education, personal growth, and sustainable development.
