Since 2017, the "Holy Saviour's Catholic School" project has been underway in Hosanna, in the rural area of Hadiya, promoted by the Catholic Mission of Hosanna with the support of Nuovo Fiore in Africa. The initiative involves the gradual construction of a complete school complex, from the first to the twelfth grade, for 850 students, with priority given to girls, orphans, and vulnerable families.
The school includes equipped classrooms, laboratories, sanitary facilities, and inclusive educational spaces. Between 2017 and 2019, the structures were started and expanded, with the aim of improving access to education in rural areas, reducing distances, and increasing educational quality. In a country where more than 8 million children do not attend school and gender inequalities in education are still marked, this intervention is crucial for promoting educational equity and local development.
The project is expected to create over 50 jobs and involves over 4,000 indirect beneficiaries, strengthening the social and economic fabric of the community.
School infrastructures are the heart of our interventions in Africa: without safe classrooms, adequate spaces, and modern tools, learning remains a privilege for a few. This is why we build and renovate schools, create laboratories and educational spaces that allow children and young people to grow up in dignified environments. Every new classroom is not just a building, but a seed of hope and future for entire communities.

Hosanna is the capital of the Hadiya zone in southern Ethiopia and represents a reference center for the surrounding rural communities. With about 90,000 inhabitants, the city is vibrant and known for its cultural and religious traditions that strengthen social bonds. However, poverty affects a significant part of the population: many families live on subsistence agriculture and incomes are not enough to guarantee access to education and basic services. Schools in the area are overcrowded, with over 60 students per class, and often lack qualified teachers and adequate materials. Despite these fragilities, Hosanna maintains a strong sense of community and considerable social energy, making the city a place rich in potential but still marked by profound educational and economic inequalities.
With the goal of supporting basic education and vocational training, the Foundation invests in infrastructure and initiatives addressing educational challenges such as the empowerment of girls and women.
Each project is developed in collaboration with local communities and aims to promote education, personal growth, and sustainable development.
