The Project

Secondary school

The "Three Laboratories for Adamitullo" project, launched in 2014 by the Salesians of Don Bosco, aimed to enhance technical-scientific education in the high school of a rural area in southern Ethiopia, near Lake Zway. Thanks to the support received, three laboratories equipped with furnishings and didactic materials dedicated to students in grades 9–12 were created. In a poor but strategic area for the country's agricultural and productive development, the project strengthened the technical skills of young people, offering them a more practical training that is applicable in the world of work. The school directly benefits about 200 students and involves over 1,200 indirect beneficiaries, including families and members of the local community. The intervention represents a concrete step towards educational inclusion and youth empowerment, contributing to transforming education into a tool for redemption and growth for the entire region.

Special supports are created to respond to urgent and specific needs that emerge in the communities we work with. These are targeted interventions—such as medical supplies, means of transport, school equipment, or support in emergency situations—that allow us to immediately address concrete difficulties. These special projects integrate our educational and social work, ensuring timely and high-impact responses. Every extraordinary help is a gesture that brings immediate relief and strengthens the hope of those living in conditions of vulnerability.

Direct: 200 students (grades 9–12)

Adamitullo is located in the south of the country, along the shores of Lake Zway, in a region known for fishing and agriculture. The population is largely composed of farmers who grow cereals and vegetables, often only for subsistence. Families show a community spirit and a strong bond with the land, but food insecurity is frequent: according to government data, more than 30% of children under 5 in this area suffer from chronic malnutrition. Educational services are few and far from the villages, and many children cannot even complete primary school. The presence of schools is therefore a decisive factor in combating intergenerational poverty.
